Project Overview

Maidens and Ravens is a newly launched wedding dress boutique, created after the owner parted ways with a larger franchise to start a more independent and personal venture. They approached me to design a brand identity that would reflect their unique vision and set them apart in a competitive market.

The Brief

The goal was to create a brand design that:

  • Felt approachable and welcoming to brides-to-be.

  • Reflected the elegance and romance of a wedding dress boutique.

  • Included a subtle gothic edge by incorporating a nod to a raven — a key element of the boutique’s name and personality.

The challenge was to balance timeless elegance with a slightly alternative twist that would appeal to brides looking for something both classic and unique.

The Design Process

I began by exploring a range of visual styles and colour palettes, blending soft, romantic tones with edgier, darker elements to achieve the perfect balance.

  • Logo Design
    I created a refined wordmark with elegant typography to convey professionalism and sophistication. Alongside this, I designed a minimalist raven icon, using fine lines and a subtle silhouette to give the logo an understated gothic feel without overpowering the brand’s approachable tone.

  • Colour Palette
    The palette combined soft ivory and muted blush tones to represent bridal elegance, paired with charcoal and deep black accents to bring in the gothic undertone inspired by the raven.

  • Supporting Brand Elements
    To complete the brand identity, I designed a suite of print and digital assets, including business cards, social media templates, and signage concepts, ensuring a consistent look and feel across all platforms.

The Result

The final brand identity for Maidens and Ravens perfectly balances modern romance and subtle gothic influence. The design feels welcoming, stylish, and memorable, helping the boutique establish itself as a standout choice for brides seeking something a little different.

This branding now serves as the foundation for their launch, supporting everything from in-store visuals to online marketing and ensuring a cohesive and professional presence from day one.
